Winter Books for Preschoolers

Looking for Winter books for your preschooler this season? Here’s a list of my favorite books for kids between 2-6. Some go over the season of Winter, and others are inspiring picture books. Pick a few for a well-rounded Winter homeschool lesson plan.

If there’s one thing I learned while I was a preschool teacher, it’s that books are powerful tools. They’re non-negotiable for our unit studies now that I’m homeschooling. No matter how busy our week is, new books are a must. Sometimes our budget doesn’t allow for new books, which makes the public library a wonderful resource. If I can’t find something within our theme (which is extremely rare), we still pick up a few books that we haven’t read yet.

Books hit some of the biggest philosophies I implement in our homeschool preschool routine:

  1. Parent connection
  2. Learning through play and exploration (books are FUN and get their brains working)
  3. Low prep (all you have to do is pick it up off the shelf and go

Of course, it works on literacy and language development too, which is important.
