Shaving Cream Snow Sensory Writing Preschool Winter Activity
Your preschooler will love writing in “snow” with this shaving cream sensory writing activity. Work on letter recognition, language skills, and sensory exploration with this fun Winter activity.
Shaving cream is a fun sensory medium for preschoolers who no longer mouth everything in sight. It’s a popular choice among parents and preschool teachers, because it’s easy to clean up, and the kids absolutely love it.
Since shaving cream is white, it’s easy to add food coloring to, and can even be frozen for a different experience.
For “snow writing,” I simply squirted some shaving cream onto our homeschool table, and let my son have at it! I actually used way too much, so be careful. Less is more when you’re trying to see the underside of the table or tray you’re using.
This day we worked on uppercase letters only, but you can really do anything you like. Uppercase and lowercase, numbers, name recognition, you name it!

Shaving Cream Sensory Writing
For most of our activity time, my son would ask me to write the letter, and he would trace over it. As I’ve mentioned, we live in Texas, so we don’t see real snow very often. Any chance to pretend we’re playing with snow is an exciting time for my kids. One day they’ll see it, but for now, pretend snow activities will have to do.
