Snowflake Homeschool Nature Study
Learn all about snowflakes with your homeschooler this Winter, with my printable snowflake nature study mini unit. Go over the life cycle and anatomy of a snowflake, work on fine motor skills and artistic expression with the playdough mat, and practice writing the word ‘snowflake’ with my ‘S is for snowflake’ worksheet.
Mini units make my heart swell with excitement over our decision to homeschool, because the opportunities are endless! I have personally found such joy in education and learning since we started homeschooling our kids, and I’m excited to share that spark with my kids. If my kids are interested in learning about sharks, we can do a day or week-long Shark mini unit. If they still want to delve deeper into the topic, we can keep it going and do a full-on study!
It’s so much fun. I couldn’t be happier. So, when my son showed an interest in snowflakes, I put together this quick mini unit in a morning’s time so we could spend the afternoon and evening learning about their life cycle and how they’re formed.
We watched Youtube videos and sang songs to fill out the study a bit more, but these worksheets were definitely a focal point of the mini unit. You should incorporate play and sensory exploration, or any other activity staple in your home to make this anatomy study fun. I can only imagine how cool this will be in a few years when we have a microscope.
